first day of school

Trent started school today!!! One down, one to go... He had a great first day and knows a few of the kids from last year. I will add a pic later.

finally home!!!

what an adventure it was to get home to Germany. so I had this great idea we would "hop" use space A to fly to and from the states this summer. well I thought this would be a great solution to the outrageous prices in airline tickets. oh was I sadly mistaken... getting from Germany to the US was so easy. we jumped on a C17 and landed in Dover, DE. rented a car and made our way to Texas so I could complete my last class for a BSN. the summer was great. went up to Ohio to see family. Danny was TDY in the states so we decided we would go back to Germany together Space A. There was a flight out of WPAFB on a C5 to McGuire on a Monday. We thought we would take our chances and go to BWI, they had a flight Tuesday and one on Wednesday. Well we get to BWI check in, return the rental car and wait for roll call, the plane is broke, pushed back till Wednesday. Okay, no biggie, off to a hotel. Come back Wednesday, 2 flights, no luck getting on the terminal was PACKED. So it is 11ish pm, we rent a car and drive up to McGuire they have one flight Thursday and 3 on Friday to Germany and 1 to UK, cool! We are thinking we have to get on one of these flights. Get to McGuire at 5am, get a hotel. So Thursday we go to the terminal and we see some of the same faces from BWI, no biggie, we are Cat 3. Thursday the flight went from 54 seats to 1 before roll call was finished, ugh. We still have Friday, tentative 76, 76, 54, 10 seats, there is hope. Friday the first roll call finishes 11 seats before us, no biggie, next flight! The first plane group, checks their bags, they go to the security briefing to learn that the plane has reached its max. weight limit. ugh. Then we hear that the rest of the planes no longer have seats. We are done, just want to go home! I get on the phone and call Greg, to find us some plane tickets, for Saturday, we are going to the Philly airport. So instead of buying a Samsung 63" Series 6 Plasma HDTV from Circuit City, we got 4 plane tickets home! Really I do not even want to add up how much this trip cost us... 7 hotel rooms, 4 rental cars and 8 plane tickets! All to fly for free on Space A.

the 4th

the gang here in Vernon went down to Christina & Brian's house for the 4th. In Abliene they were had a celebration at the zoo. so we got to walk around the zoo, eat dinner and watch the fireworks. the boys and cousin Julie had a lot of fun looking at the animals. the fireworks were okay but I would have to say not near as good as a New Years in Germany.

it was right before I went to sleep that I realized I did not take a picture yet today. I love Sugar free Red Bull. I don't drink it often but when I need a pick me up this is what I go for.

a month of pictures

so I have decided that I need to use my new camera and and not use the auto function. so I thought a month of pictures could be fun, I am going to try and make it my favorite things. oh and in typical Marla fashion I am already a day behind. lol

okay so at the commissary they have the reusable shopping bag. I love mine. I have 3 they hold so much stuff. well I saw the walmart ones and decided I needed one. so now I just have to figure out how I am going to explain of all the things I could buy in the states why I have so many reusable shopping bags - that I just had to have. and I saw one last week at a grocery store that I like but didn't have time to get.
